<mat. #>, <type: concrete|steel>, <max. stress>, <modulus of elasticity>, <Poisson’s ratio>, <Initial stress for presterssing>, <modulus of strain hardening>(repeat previous line for all materials)
Defines the material properties. These values will be displayed in the window activated by the
button).
mat #: number of the material (must be unique, but does not need to be consecutively numbered
type: either concrete (material without tensile strength), steel (material with equal tensile and compressive strengths or cable (like steel, but with an initial stress in the bar). Must be in lowercase.
max stress: compressive strength for concrete or yield stress for steel. May be substituted by the word elastic, in which case a very large value is inserted at the time of generating the input file for the FE calculation.
modulus of elasticity: modulus of elasticity of the material
Poisson’s ratio: Poisson’s ratio of the material (not used by iConc, but required by other programs)
The following two properties are optional (if the modulus of strain hardening is needed, introduce a zero value for sig0 if not applicable)
initial stress in the prestressing: initial value of the stress before release of the prestressing
modulus of strain hardening: modulus of elasticity of the material
The default values provided are defined as parameters to the applet and are valid for meshes in which the following units are used : [MN] (Meganewton) for the forces and [m] (meter for the forces. Stresses expressed in [MN/m2] are the same as those expressed in [MPa] or [N/mm2].
The default values may be modified, but there must always be a geometries #2 and 11, as well as material #1 and 11, as these are used by default when creating areas and rebars.
