Shear wall under distributed loads
Now, considering the same beam and distributing the load uniformly over its entire span, the resultant remains identical to the previous case, and the tensile force in the reinforcement does not change. The stress field can be developed in a manner analogous to the previous case by replacing the single load with an infinite number of point loads. The stress field ABCD is referred to as a fan. The stress intensity is equal to fce at the line of discontinuity near the support and decreases hyperbolically in the radial direction. In the region CDE, there exists a biaxial stress state composed vertically of the downward force of the load and horizontally of the compressive force balancing the tension in the reinforcement.
